The Hope Candle

Alright here we go Advent has started and it's the first Sunday. I know when I was little this one of the things I looked forward to every year, It sure seems like most churches don't do it anymore.
Anyway, The first Sunday is the candle of Hope. The suggested scripture readings are
Isaiah 11:1-10
Luke 1:26-38
Isaiah 7:10-14
Matthew 1:18-24
And I'll write the last one out here
Isaiah 40:3-5
"A voice of one calling; 'In the desert prepare a way for the Lord; make strait in the wilderness a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plane. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.'"

This is a prophecy about John the Baptist, and Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem. I'm sure that isn't all there is to this passage, It's just a chance to look at the way God through the prophets, foretold the coming of Christ, and a look into the new testament to see how it all came to be just as the scripture foretold.
Right well I never claimed to be particularly adept at verbalizing theological ideas, I just figure I'll share what I can from Advent... Now go light a candle and read those other verses. :)
